2017 Bundestag Election: 61.5 million people entitled to vote
WIESBADEN – According to an estimate of the Federal Statistical Office, roughly 61.5 million Germans living in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany will be entitled to vote in the elections to the 19th German Bundestag on 24 September 2017. A total of 31.7 million of the persons entitled to vote are women and 29.8 million are men. The Federal Returning Officer also reports that the number of persons entitled to vote is thus expected to be slightly smaller than during the 2013 Bundestag Election when it amounted to approximately 61.9 million.
The persons entitled to vote comprise about 3.0 million first-time voters. These are all young Germans who have become legally an adult since the previous Bundestag election.
