2021 Bundestag Election: 47 parties will run in the election

WIESBADEN – 47 of the 54 parties admitted to run in the election to the 20^th German Bundestag on 26 September 2021 will actually take part. The following 40 parties will participate with Land lists:

Federal Returning Officer Georg Thiel said: “The SPD, AfD, FDP, DIE LINKE, FREIE WÄHLER, Die PARTEI, Tierschutzpartei, NPD, ÖDP, MLPD and Volt are represented with Land lists in all 16 Länder, the CDU in all Länder except for Bayern, the GRÜNEN in all Länder except for Saarland, and the CSU in Bayern only.”

will not take part in the Bundestag election, neither with Land lists nor with constituency candidates.

Detailed information on the order in which the parties and their Land lists will appear on the ballot papers of the individual Länder will be published in a separate press release.

Approved candidates will appear on the ballot papers even if a party should declare that it does no longer intend to participate in the election.
