2025 Bundestag election: Press service of the Federal Returning Officer on the day of the Bundestag election
WIESBADEN – The Federal Returning Officer will offer a press service for the media in the Reichstag building of the German Bundestag in Berlin on 23 February 2025, the day of the Bundestag election.
All press releases will be disseminated in the usual manner via the internet (www.bundeswahlleiterin.de), e-mail and ots service. The most important information is also provided on the social media channels of the Federal Returning Officer.
The Federal Returning Officer will announce the intermediate result for voter turnout in the “West Lobby” on the Plenary Chamber floor of the Bundestag at around 15:30 on 23 February 2025 and the provisional election result in the early morning of 24 February 2025. More detailed information will be provided in a press release on 20 February 2025.
A limited number of interviews can be given on election day depending on availability. Please contact pressestelle@bundeswahlleiterin.de in advance to request and arrange any interviews.
Please note: Permanent accreditation by the German Bundestag is required to be admitted to the Bundestag premises on the weekend of the election (www.bundestag.de/presse/akkreditierung). Media representatives can enter the Bundestag exclusively via the entrance at Dorotheenstraße 100 on election weekend. Furthermore, admission is strictly by prior arrangement with the Press Office of the Federal Returning Officer. Media representatives must be collected and accompanied by staff of the Federal Returning Officer.
From Monday, 24 February 2025, 00:00, all accredited press representatives will be permitted to enter the Reichstag building with their red Bundestag passes as usual (meaning without being accompanied) via the entrance at Dorotheenstraße 100 and from 06:00 onwards also via the northern entrance.
Official appointment with the Federal President
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will cast his vote in the 2025 Bundestag election at Erich-Kästner-Grundschule, Bachstelzenweg 2-8, Berlin-Dahlem at 10:30 in the morning on 23 February 2025. On this occasion, the Federal President, together with the Federal Returning Officer and the Berlin Land Returning Officer, will thank the polling station volunteers present for their work, a thanks which is extended to all poll workers assisting in the election on that day.
Information on the media accreditation that is required for this event is provided on the website of the Federal President. Due to space constraints, admission is limited. The deadline for registration is 12:00 (noon) on Monday, 17 February 2025.
Open data offerings of the Federal Returning Officer
The Federal Returning Officer will offer all current results also in XML and CSV format for download by the media, researchers and interested users. The results for all constituency nominations and Land lists will be published from the constituency level upwards.
