2019 European Election: voter turnout by 2 p.m. and provisional election result

WIESBADEN – When the 9th European Parliament is elected on Sunday, 26 May 2019, the Federal Returning Officer will establish and announce the voter turnout by 2 p.m. (intermediate result) in the afternoon and the official provisional election result during election night.

The voter turnout by 2 p.m. (intermediate result) will be determined on the basis of the voter turnout in selected polling stations. The result should be available at around 3.30 p.m. and will be released by the Federal Returning Officer.

Polling stations in Germany will close at 6 p.m. on the day of the European election. Then the electoral boards will start to count the votes in the polling stations.

The Federal Returning Officer may announce the official provisional result for Germany only after the polling stations have closed in the last Member State of the European Union – this means not before 11 p.m.

Where research institutes publish election projections after 6 p.m. on election day but before the official provisional election result has been announced, these are results of voter interviews after the poll and results of the public counting of votes in individual polling stations.
