Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community

Where matters of electoral law are concerned, the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community is the superior state electoral agency and the parliamentary body responsible. In a co-ordinating function, the Ministry generally only informs the agencies in charge about the way it interprets general and fundamental questions pertaining to the application of law so that the poll can be prepared and conducted in a uniform manner, gives technical hints and draws the attention to cases where it is obvious that the provisions of electoral law have been violated. The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community does not have a right to issue instructions in the sense of legal supervision.
