Poll

The term “poll” describes the entire voting process taking place under the direction and supervision of the electoral bodies on election day:

  • the electoral officer commissioning the members of the electoral board to carry out their duties impartially and advising them not to disclose any information to which they have become privy in the performance of their official functions,
  • inspecting the ballot boxes,
  • casting of votes,
  • closing of the polling station after the end of the poll (6 p.m.).

As a matter of principle, the poll itself and the ascertainment and declaration of the election result should be public, provided that this is possible without disruption of the ballot.
